The Real Person Behind the Recipes

I'm Susan, the cook and the writer behind "Recipes for Real People."

I started this blog way back in 2006 and continue to post new recipes, though my publishing schedule has been less than regular (I'm working on that). These days I keep my camera in the kitchen and my husband is no longer surprised when I ask him to hold off taking that first bite until I snap just one more shot. While I enjoy writing about family recipes, I know that having a picture to refer to when you're cooking is helpful, so I'm doing my best to include those, too.

All of the recipes shared on this site are simple, family-style recipes. Nothing fancy or time-consuming comes out of my kitchen; who has time for that? If I use an ingredient or a utensil that might not be readily available in your local grocery store or kitchen drawer, I'll give you a link to where you can find it. Since I like to stick with tried and true, that doesn't happen very often.

I hope you'll take some time to browse the recipe archives, looking for recipes that you'd like to try. When you do find something that sounds good, I'd love if you'd leave a comment or share the link with your Facebook or Google+ friends or save it to your Pinterest board by clicking one of the share buttons below the recipe. I really do appreciate that!

Until we eat again,

  1. Love the camera aspect. My husband is now hoping he can eat without always having to wait for that special "shot", which takes me about ten or so :)

    1. Glad to know our husbands have something so important in common! :D Funny how after even 10 pictures, it's usually the first one that's best. (Don't tell!)
