This cake is absolutely delicious, but I think it looks like a lumpy mattress. More about that following the recipe.
Susan's Lumpy Mattress Cake
1 box angel food cake mix
1 21-ounce can cherry pie filling
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9 x 13 pan with nonstick cooking spray. Stir angel food cake mix and the cherry pie filling together. Pour into cake pan. Bake for 20-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. Cool and enjoy.
I made this last night and it was so good we had seconds, but I had to laugh when I took it out of the oven, and especially after it was cool. The cake pulled away from the sides of the pan, it was pink, and the cherries created "lumps" in the cake. It reminded me of a pink, lumpy mattress, so I decided that Lumpy Mattress Cake would be a good name.
With just two ingredients, you won't find a simpler recipe. Note that the cake mix I used contained two separate envelopes of ingredients; yours may contain just one. I just dumped them both into the bowl then added the pie filling. Dress up the slices with a dollop of whipped cream if you like, or serve plain.
